Booking your flight...

Before you book

  • When travelling with infants under two years of age you should budget for about 10% of the adult fare plus taxes – and although with some airlines we are able to request a bassinet, no seat is allocated for the baby.
  • Generally fares for kids 2 – 10 years are 75% of the adult fare plus tax – and they do get a seat. Another thing we check for is that your seats have been allocated or requested together!
  • It is also part of our service to order child or special request meals prior to departure.

Packing

  • This is so dependent on the age of your children, and of course it seems to be that the smaller the child – the more you have to pack. At the end of the day, make sure you are able to manage your suitcases without assistance. Wheels on your bags are great! When packing your hand luggage don’t forget to pack all your baby essentials, extra snacks for in between meals, Panadol, cups for toddlers, lollies for bribery (and ear popping) as well as a familiar toy to comfort them when necessary.

At the airport

  • Always arrive early for check in, it helps you confirm and sometimes get better seating. Keep everyone organised and calm and allow for any last minute purchases you may have forgotten. Have passports and credit cards at the ready.
  • Our favourite airport is Singapore's Changi. It has a swimming pool, five themed indoor gardens, six XBox stations, and free city sightseeing tours for stopovers of five hours or more.

During the flight

  • Try and feed on takeoff and landing to relieve ear pressure, and make sure you keep liquids up the whole way through. Don't try any new untested drugs during the flight – the reaction is an unknown and with the addition of altitude likely to be unwelcomed.

100mL

When taking liquids in on-board luggage, no containers must contain more than 100mL, and all containers must be displayed in a clear plastic bag when passing through security. (more info)

A long haul flight?

Break up the flight! Spend a night in Singapore, Thailand, or Dubai. You might be surprised at how little extra it will cost.
